Frequently Asked Questions and their standard answers

We have included these Frequently Asked Questions to lend you a little help.

NRA Safety classes are Required for Venturers that wish to participate in handgun shooting.

When and where do you meet?

  • Fill out our interest form on the home page and we will send you all the details but we meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday. There is a monthly Youth Shoot activity at the Range on the 3rd Saturday at 8am.

What Uniform does the crew use?

  • The Crew Uniform: The dress uniform may be either the BSA provided uniform or the Crew Uniform.
Formal crew activities will use the Crew Uniform. Informal activities and general outdoor use activities can use the Activity Uniform
    .
  • Jeans are not acceptable clothing for anything other than a work party. No scout uniform is to be worn with jeans. (we have deemed it to be tacky, and we are NOT tacky)

What are the parts of the Crew Uniform?

  • Shirt, Pants, Belt, Boots, and a Hat (we have not decided on the hat yet)

Crew Pants -

Crew Belt -

Shirt - Hunter Green/Sage, Cabela's Classic II Shooting Shirt .

Shoes/Boots

  • Appropriate Hiking boots or walking shoes for the activity. Dark colors. We may make a transition to desert tan pants, in which case tan boots would look the best. Big 5 and similar sporting goods stores have many options to choose from.

Holy Cow, all the parts look expensive...how can I save some money on the uniorm?

  • Some of the parts we can buy in bulk and some of them we get a 10% or more discount. Save money and do some fund raisers and you wont have to stress on the expenses.  It is affordable you just need to budget. Besides you dont have to have the full uniform to join, you can collect it in parts as we make orders.

Crew Member requirements

  • You must be 14-20, submit an application and be accepted into the crew. Upon acceptance you must pay a $20 registration fee. Some of this money will open your crew account and will be used for activities, patches, what ever you need to use it on (for scouting).
  • All members are to have their CPR/First Aid cert within 12 months of joining.
  • All members will attend and pass an NRA approved firearms safety course within 8 months of joining (the safety class is required prior to participating in handgun or shogun shoots, or for any caliber over .22 rem)
  • Each member will work toward assembling their crew uniform.

Safety Equipment

  • You are responsible for assembling proper shooting safety equipment. Including: eye and ear protection. We have resources and suggestions for gear and we will share this information at our meetings
